MBOKODO PUBLISHERS – PLUBLISHING PROCESS
Mbokodo Publishers is a South African publishing house offering Hybrid and Traditional (Commercial) publishing, guided by transparency, ethical practice, and clear legal agreements.
- Our Publishing Models
1.1 Hybrid Publishing
Hybrid publishing is a partnership model where authors invest in their publishing journey through a selected package.
- Turnaround time: 1–3 months
- Authors retain copyright ownership
- Mbokodo Publishers is granted publishing and distribution rights
- Marketing is included in all packages
- Sales and distribution depend on the selected package
- All costs, services, and timelines are agreed upfront
1.2 Traditional / Commercial Publishing
Traditional publishing applies where Mbokodo Publishers fully finances the book.
- Turnaround time: 6–18 months
- Manuscripts are selected based on commercial viability
- No upfront payment is required from the author
- Mbokodo Publishers owns the copyright for the contract duration
- Authors receive royalties as per agreement
- Marketing is included, with sales and distribution managed by the publisher
- Submission and Assessment
Manuscript submission does not guarantee acceptance. All submissions are assessed for quality, readiness, and market potential.
- Quotation, Payment, and Invoicing
- Hybrid publishing requires acceptance of a formal quotation and payment before production begins.
- Traditional publishing proceeds after acceptance of a publishing offer.
- Legal Agreements
All publishing projects require a signed agreement covering:
- Copyright and rights
- Financial terms and royalties
- Marketing, sales, and distribution scope
- Timelines and deliverables
- Termination and dispute resolution
MBOKODO PUBLISHERS – PRINTING PROCESS
At Mbokodo Publishers, printing is handled professionally to ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery. The printing method used depends on the book type, quantity, and selected publishing package.
Step 1: Final Print-Ready Approval
- The manuscript must be fully edited, designed, and typeset.
- The author approves the final print-ready proof in writing.
- Once approved, no further content changes are allowed.
Step 2: Selection of Printing Method
We use two main printing methods:
- Digital Printing
- Suitable for short print runs and quick turnaround.
- Ideal for self-publishing, launches, and reprints.
- Turnaround time: 7 working days from final approval.
- Litho (Offset) Printing
- Suitable for large print runs.
- More cost-effective for high quantities.
- Turnaround time: 21 working days from final approval.
Step 3: Printing and Quality Control
- Printing is done according to approved specifications (size, paper, binding, cover finish).
- Quality checks are conducted to ensure professional standards.
Step 4: Delivery or Collection
- Books are made available for collection or courier delivery.
- Courier costs, where applicable, are billed separately unless included in the selected package.
Important Notes
- Printing timelines start after final approval and confirmation of payment.
- Delays in author approvals may extend turnaround times.
- Printing defects must be reported within the timeframe stated in the agreement.

Mbokodo Publishers is committed to delivering professionally printed books that meet industry standards and author expectations.
